OPPO BDP-83 Blu-ray Disc Player Review

By Thomas Sneed

Technology marches on, and it you want to keep up to date, then you need to look sharp. I guess we have all seen and admired the superb HDDVD (high definition DVD) technology that hit the marketplace quite recently. Like most of us I am sure that you applauded just how clear and bright the pictures were and thought that we had reached the pinnacle of perfection. Well, I am pleased to be able to shatter that illusion. Now we have the Blu-ray player, and it's taking things to yet another level.

With the new OPPOBDP-83 Blu-ray player video playing functions and DVD audio is combined into one system. You will be glad to know that this player is not restricted to only playing Blu-ray movies, but it also accepts DVD-audios, SACD, CDs, and DVDs. It doesn't matter what disc is inserted into the player; you can get comfortable and simply enjoy. You can do all this without accumulating wires and remotes.

This player rules all players. Use this player to enjoy any CD or DVD in your home. What more, you can even burn home videos, jpegs and music to disc or transfer them to a USB drive and enjoy them on this player. The days of collecting a device for a specific task is over.

This machine is the king, and will play anything you've got in your collection with the best playback quality imaginable, (both audio and/or visual) beyond your wildest dreams. It also burns home videos and DVDs, and allows you to download jpegs and music files via its USB port so you can play them too. There's nothing this little machine cannot do. It's not just a jack of all trades; it's a master of all trades and it's the only device you'll ever need.

With its processing chip that has received an award, the Blu-ray player not only provides clean picture quality but it also displays images that are true to life. You, with the family, will be provided with 1080p of high definition, and you also have the choice of 480p, 480i, 1080i and 720p. You should also know that all Blu-ray movies that you back up at 24fps can be enjoyed on the OPPOBDP-83 Blu-ray player.

In terms of the old video technology, the OPPOBDP-83 world with play both PAL and NTSC which means that you can view NTSC tapes on PAL TV and vice versa, although this does depend on what BD and DVD restrictions operate in your area. This really is home cinema at its very best, and every time that you sit down to take in a movie via your BDP-83, you will be truly amazed at the out of this world picture quality, and the absolutely awesome sound quality too.

The player supports both DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD audio, and this provides you with sound that is studio quality and nothing is lost. Owners of the player will also be happy to know that BDP-83 supports SACD and DVD-Audio. These are the two formats that deliver multi-channel audio and stereo sound. These formats are responsible for bringing your sound that much more superior to the sound on CDs.

The remote control is backlit, and it provides clear labeling that makes playing back video discs and audio easy. With the backlight, you will have no trouble operating the BDP-83 in the dark.
