Identify A Liar At The Poker Tables Part 2

By Gwenal Telmo

Surely you can use a lot of tricks in order to identify a liar at the poker table but there is one that is so good at this problem. In a conversation, change the subject you're discussing fast enough that no one will notice it. Liars will soon realized that the subject has changed and will sigh with content because that's what they want. Whereas honest individuals will be confused and will ask you why did you change the subject and will want to go back in the former topic.

Identifying a liar in poker has everything to do with talking. That's why many great players are talkative. This is their way of picking a tell and getting to know your reactions when you're feeling troubled or not. They also try to get your genuine natural reactions for them to use against you on the game.

One good instance of a conversation to pick a tell is about "Amarillo Slim" Preston. There was a time that Slim really had this hate thing against lady poker players. During his career, he encountered a very good player who is a woman. With this challenge in tow, Slim has no chance to play around, he wanted to win so that he won't have a chance to be embarrassed.

Before the match started, Slim already heard some info about the women. This info is about how much he like the drink she ordered. She thought that this true emotion will not be use against her. But she's wrong. Slim had already think about this and decided to ask the status of her hand when the game progresses.

However, as the game progresses the lady took the hint and started to ignore Slim on the game by wearing headphones. Slim and her enjoyed wiping the floor clean till the game ends.

Another trick using natural reaction against a poker player is this:

Percy is a fun of poker and enjoys playing it. While on the game, you watch him keeping his eyes close on a baseball game and he showed hints that he had money at stake on the game. Fortunately, the team his betting won and you ask him if he has money on it. He answered you yes and showed this big smirk on his face.

Moments later, you find yourself in a big poker challenge against Andy. You told him that you had a good hand and he has this serenity in his face that you saw during the basketball match. He also made a big smile and started to talk about anything with enthusiasm. With this Andy unknowingly give you a good kind of tell.

If you want to use other people's natural reaction as a weapon against them in poker then it will be better if you see it first hand before or during the game. Observe how your opponents act truly and use it to know if they are bluffing you in poker or not.
