A Golf Gift, a Golf Gift, My Kingdom For a Golf Gift...

By Evan Geldart

With Christmas soon upon us, there is a wide range of choices available for that special golfer on your list. Are they a professional who can drive that ball 300 yards down the field? Are they a mere beginner who can barely get the ball off the tee? No worries...there is something out there for everyone. The question is, where to start? What golf gift would be perfect when you are faced with navigating through such a sea of products. Calm down...we will help you to get your bearings and fine tune your selections...

Ask any golfer...golf can be a very frustrating but fascinating game. One minute you have made a fantastic shot, and then you spend the rest of the day chasing that little white ball from the sand trap to the water hazard to the rough. Uggghhh!!! But it's those fantastic shots that send your mind into the realm of the "could be's". Could I be a pro? Could I quit my job and joint the golf tour? All I will need is a bit more instruction and the right equipment, right? With these pleasant thoughts we will delve into the categories available for both golf instruction and equipment.

1) The Equipment. Even those who know very little about golf realize that you will need a ball and some sort of a club to hit it with. Beyond these basics there is a wide assortment of options available, depending on the quality of the equipment to the specific implement that you are going to need to get the job done. You're never going to get that ball out of a sand trap with a #3 wood...

2) Golf Instruction - It's been said that the guitar is one of the easiest instruments to learn how to play and the most difficult to master. The same thing can be said for golf. For those who desire to master the game of golf, there is a wide range of instructional methods available. Those methods that are the easiest on the "pocket book" are DVD's and books. For those who prefer more individual instruction, golf pros offer lessons on the finer aspects of the game.

3) Golf Courses. Equipped with a ball and a club you are still going to need to have a place to use them. Many golfers are members of a specific club, so they tend to play most of their rounds of golf there...but they long to try their stuff on that other course nearby. Why not surprise them with a round or two of golf at this course? If you have a bit more money you could always get them a golf package to that fantastic course in Florida or California they are always talking about.

4) Tournament Tickets - All of us have heroes and mentors, and golfers are no exception. You could always surprise that special golfer on your gift list with tickets to see their favorite golf hero in action. Golf professionals have a job that takes them all over the world, playing courses, and earning those $$$. Your golfing friend could be in the crowd! This will certainly be a gift that they will remember.

5) Novelty Items - We all need a good laugh now and then, right? Golfers are no exception. When it comes to golf gifts it seems that the supply is endless. Some are very subtle. Others are outright hilarious.

These are some of the areas of golf gift options available. In our subsequent articles we will hone in on specific gifts and highlight why we think they are great! If you can't wait, please visit our blog...
