What is a Punch Cutter on a Lighter?

By Dave Sabot

Accessories are part of the tradition of smoking cigars. If you are serious about cigar smoking, then you are going to want to know about some of the different tools and accessories that can make your experiences even more enjoyable. Of course, you probably already know about humidors as well as how important they are when it comes to keeping the cigars moist and fresh. You probably also know about the various types and blends of cigar that are available. One of the things that some people dont know as much about is the different types of cutter available. People will be able to choose from guillotine cutters to punch cutters.

You will be able to get a punch cutter and lighter combination, which is very beneficial. When you have this combo, you are never without either a cutter or a lighter. This is handy, especially for those who like to head over to their friends' houses to smoke a cigar or to a cigar bar. You will even find that many of the cutters have key ring attachments, which make them even easier to keep without fear of losing it.

You will find that the punch cutters are easy to use, but they are not right for every type of cigar. When you use the cutter, you just put it against the mouthpiece of the cigar and "punch". This will create a small hole through which the smoke will flow. You should note that they don't work well on large cigars or on those with a torpedo shape. Keep this in mind when you are searching for a cutter.

With the smaller holes from the punch cut, moisture and smoke can sometimes build up at the hole. This is something that many cigar smokers can't abide. Also, they don't work with large cigars. You might want to have both a punch cutter and a guillotine cutter so that you are always prepared no matter the type of cigar you have available.

When you have a type of cutter in mind, you will be able to find many of them on the market in all manner of styles. It should be easy to find something that works well with your smoking style and habits.
